The debut of Mrs Peels most iconic outfit (in fact this is shopwear for Horatio Kanes toy department for sci fi toys -hence the metallic Thunderbirds like sash ,gloves and boots )I just wish John and Emma didn't foil his plot maybe we'd see a few more of these catsuits around lol.. The action takes place in this episode in a dept store (having worked in a few in the past they are quite sinister places lol)I imagine this catsuit had a massive cultrual impact when first shown , I can guarantee the ratings went through the roof once this episode was broadcast..
I mentioned the same thing on my blog. I get all kinds of responses when I've worn my leather catsuit; from great compliments to glaring stink eye. I can only imagine the response Emma's outfit elicited nearly 50 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWell really the great thing about Emma is that every man fancied her whilst every woman wanted to be like her , you don't get that so much these days . The Catsuit is totally cool , it appeared only on a few occassions although I guess people remember it especially in the U.S for the chessboard opening credits (we had a different opening credits)
ReplyDeleteWhilst Cathy Gale wore leather alot she'd have a coat , whilst this catsuit really showed off Emma's figure now we're talking pre Catwoman here so this would of been a first .. The whereabouts of the Catsuit itself is a mystery apparently Genesis E Porridge (from Throbbing Gristle and Psychic T.V )owned it but it was confiscated by the police at a rave.(Not sure if thats an urban legend though)
