R.I.P Jack




A little Tribute to Cinematographer and Director Jack Cardiff .Jack Directed Girl On a Motorcycle (which if I get a chance I'll download and showcase here.. just gotta free up some diskspace space lol) But I think Jack will be remembered most for his work with Powell and Pressburger he enabled magic to happen (I'm a big fan of their films) as well as working on the The African Queen, The Barefoot Contessa, The Vikings ,Rambo and countless other classics .. heres to you Jack! incidently top Image comes from Child of the Moon (named after a Stones Song I guess)which is an excellent blog check it out http://iamthechildofthemoon.blogspot.com/ here's another link to a Television Personalities(a band I've seen twice now live) Video which features clips from Jacks Girl on a Motorcycle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8Xw7b-iO2k

I also think he helped in filming of star wars ..sure i read that in a interview about 10 years ago .. he also photographed Marilyn Monroe..he understoodt hat photography and film were very much an art form he would paint with light .The Powell and Pressburger films he worked on are masterpieces..you wouldn't think they were made in the 1940s as they were so colourful.
